Behind The Moe: Akiko Minase

In a short series of articles, I intend to uncover the lesser known dirt on your favorite characters. First up is a bit from everyones favorite 2006 supernatural romance, comedy drama.
Nayuki’s mom, Akiko Minase takes Yuuichi in as his parents like running amuck in Africa or something. While easy-going and always smiling may have numbers to say of her parenting, could it say something about the contents of her special jam? Yes, Minase’s jam addiction goes back to her college days when she was still getting to know Mr. Minase. His love for her made it clear he had to jam her toast to keep her. A short lived jam-off followed where nothing but jam was made for a week. The origins of the special jam that Nayuki fears so seem to have originated around this time. Speaking of which, maybe Nayuki’s sleeping disablity has something to do with this.

What ever happened to Mr. Minase anyway? I don’t recall them explaining where he was in the anime…unless Nayuki mentions it towards the end and I just forgot…
