EXIT TRANCE has recently released the highly anticipated Code Speed Anime Trance Best:
Well, it’s got a pretty cover. How about the rest?
Eh, I don’t think I can recommend it. I was pretty disappointed… with such an awesome track line up and premise, I’ve been waiting
for this album for months. Overall though, it doesn’t feel like they did a lot to most the songs except throw some generic techno in the
background and maybe speed up the vocals. A few of the tracks were pretty good but it seems like a lot of them were only good because,
well, the original song was nice. You can get better sounding vocals with VOCALOID than most of the ones on here, too. Really disappointing.
“In depth” Track-by-track review:
1. もってけ!セーラーふく(らき☆すた より) / KNEE SOCKS
Motteke! Sailor Fuku (Lucky Star OP).
Eh. as far as motteke remixes go it’s… nothing special. REDALiCE’s is still far superior.

2. ハレ晴れユカイ(涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱 より) / Ma15
Hare Hare Yukai (Haruhi ED)
Kinda skipped over this track too. This is one where all they did is put shitty trance synths in the background. It doesn’t really feel “remixed” at all.

3. 創聖のアクエリオン(創聖のアクエリオン より) / chum
Sousei no Aishiteruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu (OP)
Win. This is a great song that’s hard to mess up, but still this trance version is pretty good. It gives you a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

4. God Knows…(涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱 より) / KEIKO
200 Remixes later and God Knows still sucks! Well as far as God Knows goes, it isn’t that bad. But still…

5. Butter-fly(デジモンアドベンチャー より) / NINE
Digimon OP.
This is alright… I mean, it at least enhances the good part of the song. But I mean… it isn’t that good of a remix.
Meh.
6. 緋色の空(灼眼のシャナ より) / chum
Hishoku no Sora (Shakugan no Shana OP1)
Here’s one I was waiting to hear…
and it’s crappy. The end of this track is alright, but that’s because the original is good! This “remix” is just generic techno.

7. 晴れてハレルヤ(魔方陣グルグル より) / KEIKO
Harete Hallelujah (Mahoujin Guru Guru)
KITAAAA! I didn’t notice this on the track lineup before, but when I heard it, it hit me. What a nostalgic song! I was quite pleased with this
remix, too. This is an old anime classic tune, and the remix brought life into it again.

8. ETERNAL BLAZE (魔法少女リリカルなのはA’s より) / chum
Nanoha A’s OP.
Blah. Once again, some fast paced shitty trance in the background and nothing else. I’d much rather listen to the original anytime.

9. 夢想歌(うたわれるもの より) / chum
Musou Ka (Utawarerumono)
This is one of the two songs that, IMO, made this album win or fail.
Being the huge Utaware fan that I am, my mouth was watering at an anime OP remix.
And guess what? It totally sucks. Well, I guess, there’s not really anything wrong with it, but yet AGAIN, they didn’t do anything but overlay
generic synth with the vocals. Sigh.

10. ゆずれない願い(魔法騎士レイアース より) / YURiE
Yuzurenai Negai (Magic Knight Rayearth)
Another nostalgic tune! This remix is okay. I don’t have much to say about it. It was nice to hear the song again, at least.

11. Re-Sublimity(神無月の巫女 より) / chum
Kannaduki no Miko OP.
Yay, Re-Sublimity. This has always been one of my favorite KOTOKO songs. Wait, what’d they do to remix this? Oh, they threw in some kind of
annoying siren, sped it up a bit, and put in pounding bass. Profit? I don’t think so.

12. ひぐらしのなく頃に(ひぐらしのなく頃に より) / chum
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni OP.
This remix at least remixes the song a bit. But that doesn’t mean they did it very well. At around 2 minutes, skip… got tired of listening to it.

13. 最強○×計画(すもももももも~地上最強のヨメ より) / Ma15
Saikyou○×Keikaku (Sumomomo Momomo OP)
This track wasn’t really so bad. In fact I rather like it. Which is funny, because if you look at the tracklist, this is one of my
least favorite songs they remixed… and that’s exactly what a good remix is supposed to do. I can recommend this, for sure.

14. DANZEN!ふたりはプリキュア(ふたりはプリキュア より) / YURiE
DANZEN! Futari wa Precure (Precure OP)
This is fairly good. It does the original justice while adding some fun techno elements… I guess this song just sounds okay with the shitty
generic techno thrown in? Ah well, in any case,

15. 宇宙で恋は☆るるんルーン(ギャラクシーエンジェる~ん より) / Ma15
Uchuu de Koi wa ☆ Rurun ru-n! (Galaxy Angel II OP)
A fun remix. Not necessarily good, but it’s fun. However at the same time, it feels flat… like something is missing.
I think they really could have done better, this seems like a good choice of song to remix. I guess I don’t really hate it, though.
Meh.
16. プラチナ(カードキャプターさくら より) / chum
Purachina (Card Captor Sakura)
This is the second song that made or broke this album for me. And it’s got the exact same problem as Musou Ka.
Maybe I was just too excited for listening to a remix of these songs, but in any case it was a let down. Some parts of this track are nice,
however in the end it doesn’t bring anything great to the table.

17. Feeling Heart(To Heart より) / KEIKO
I honestly can’t really comment on this. I never watched the TH original anime, only read the manga. This still kinda sounds like a VOCALOID
song gone wrong, though.
Meh.
18. 聖少女領域(ローゼンメイデン トロイメント より) / KONEKO PROJECT
Kinjirareta Asobi (Rozen Maiden)
hey, it’s ALI PROJECT! I like this. Probably because it’s an instrumental, so they couldn’t ruin the vocals. Anyways, it’s not all bad, and I like the beat.

19. 真っ赤な誓い(武装錬金 より) / NINE
MAKKA NA CHIKAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII (BUSOU RENKIN)
HELL YES! You can’t mess up this song no matter what you do. This is an OP. Quite epic. Oh, the remix part is good too. I guess.

20. アンインストール(ぼくらの より) / YURiE
Uninstall (Bokurano)
Easily the best song on the album. Which is a shame because it was released a lot earlier, so everyone had already heard it!
Ah well, it’s still a great remix. If you ask me, YURiE is definitely the best vocalist on the album.

Anyways, that’s it for the (probably too long… oh well!) trackbytrack review.
Once again, I’ll state that it was a let down.
The reviews on amazon kinda suck too.
Oh well.
